Top 10 Most Influential Honoree Rev. Sherry Gale, Ph.D (Pastor Sherry)
Rev. Sherry Gale is pastor of Grace Church whose motto is “Grace is for everyone.” Since coming to Grace Church in July, 2008, Pastor Sherry has helped lead Grace Church in increasing its connection with the Northwest Dayton community and the City of Dayton, more generally. Dayton Cooks!, a Wesley Community Center/Grace Church collaboration in food service training is one product of these connections.
From July 2004 through June 2008, Pastor Sherry served Nast Trinity United Methodist Church in the Over-the-Rhine neighborhood of downtown Cincinnati. Prior to 2004, Pastor Sherry was a mathematics professor at the University of North Carolina at Asheville for nine years and at Birmingham Southern College for three years. Pastor Sherry received her Master of Divinity degree from United Theological Seminary. While attending United Theological Seminary, she interned at Wesley Community Center in their after-school program. Pastor Sherry also has a B.S. degree in Education from Ashland College, a M.S. degree in Mathematics from Miami University, and a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Pittsburgh.
Pastor Sherry serves as the Vice President of the City of Dayton Human Relations Council Board. She also serves on the City of Dayton Community Police Council, the Montgomery County Re-entry Policy Board, the Community Initiative to Reduce Gun Violence Service Team, the Salem Avenue Business Association, and the Dayton Cooks! Advisory Board. Pastor Sherry served on the Wesley Community Center Board for six years. Pastor Sherry is the single mother of Katherine (23), Kevin (21), and Keith (18). She enjoys walking, golfing, and music.
