Transportation

Nutrition – Transportation to social meals for 60+ yrs

The transportation department arranges for the transportation of seniors age 60 and over to 8 of the 20 sites for senior nutrition in the Montgomery County. We make an average of 1087 trips per month to transport seniors from their door to the door of the hosting nutrition program. We ask only that seniors contribute $0.35 each way for the trip. The Senior Gems of Wesley Community Center is one of the eight sites to which Wesley Transportation takes seniors.

To participate: contact Wesley to determine your nearest site. Fill out the intake information at that site, and then call Wesley back to request transportation.

United Way Transport – Transportation as needed for those 55+yrs.

Many seniors are in need of transportation services for various personal reasons including meals, medical, shopping, banking, and socialization. For physical and financial reasons many cannot utilize other transportation sources such as RTA bus stop services. When these needs cannot be met through other Wesley Transportation options, the United Way fills the gaps for seniors over age 55.

Community Share – Sharing our vehicles with other agencies

The Community Share program makes Wesley Center vehicles available to other agencies when not in use by Wesley Transportation Center. We are all tied together to serve the community and thus, as good stewards, we make our vehicles available. Other Wesley programs such as the after school program, and non Wesley programs such as the boy scouts, project reach church, and Dayton Urban Ministries regularly use Wesley Transportation vehicles. Various agencies, such as local churches, use the vehicles for one-time projects.

For information on how to use Community Share please contact Wesley Center

Testimony:Transportation

The Transportation people are wonderful! Everyone is very nice, very patient, and always on time. It means very much to me to visit my daughter whenever I want, and to come to Wesley Center for 26 years. It helps me to get out every day.  –Ann Curry
